In his work of the ’Alpine Strukturen’ Ingo Rasp focuses on the universal process of becoming and decaying - often using his work to highlight aspects of global climate change and the impact of humans on our environment.
In his approach he interprets the resulting structures as shapes, lines and textures in such a way that, at first glance, the photographs resemble abstract paintings or pencil drawings. He uses abstraction and aestheticization as a visual language and reduces a specific scene to its essence to expose its essential characteristics. Each of his photographs of the alpine environment is an effort to make a photographic record of the temporary existence and the evanescence of single moments. The global phenomena of change and transformation are reflected in the details of his photographs.
Amongst other techniques, he uses aerial photography to see our planet and the environment we live in from a different viewpoint. It offers additional information about what we are able to perceive and experience in our everyday lives on the earth’s surface as human beings. This crucial overview and shift in perspective provides insights, leading to a different understanding within the overall context.
His work was exhibited at the renown Biennale in Venice as well as in group and solo shows in Switzerland and beyond. He received some of the most prestigious creative awards amongst the Red Dot Design Award and the International Photography Award.
